Bath and Kitchen

East Coast Construction and Remodeling Inc. - Bath and Kitchen

No room is quite as multifunctional as the kitchen. The hub of the home, this space has evolved from a strictly utilitarian unit into a versatile room to prepare food, entertain guests and share meals. If you’re looking to remodel, keep in mind that a kitchen design needs to successfully blend functionality with personal prerequisites. While a refrigerator, sink, oven and stove are crucial components, you can make several changes during a renovation that meet your unique set of needs.

On the other hand, even though it is one of the smallest rooms in the house, having a high-quality bathroom shouldn’t be an afterthought; this remodel is one of the most worthwhile home investments you can make. It might not be cheap, but adding updates — like a new bathtub, walk-in shower and double sinks — will increase the overall value, quality and comfort of your home. When you’re ready to start the renovation process, it is important to consider popular trends as well as your own family’s needs. Evaluate how much storage you’ll need, and how it will affect the overall feel of the space. With a creative use of materials, bathrooms can be both stylish and functional.

Here is a list of our Bath and Kitchen Services:
1. Laminate Kitchen Countertops

Laminate kitchen countertops offer durability and style at a price lower than any other material. It’s a worthy contender if you have a limited budget. A favorite during the groovy 1960s and ‘70s, laminate kitchen countertops are enjoying a second wind as an affordable, durable, moisture-proof, and surprisingly attractive replacement for your home’s worn kitchen countertops.

Shop around and you’ll find a nearly unlimited selection of richly colored solids, midcentury patterns, and enticing-to-touch textures. They mimic:
• Earthy stone slabs, such as marble
Rusted metal
Butcher block and other wood
Fabric and leather

Laminates are made with layers of paper, including a decorative layer, and melamine resin. Generally, the thicker the product, the more durable and costly it’ll be. Higher-end laminates offer 10-year warranties. Fancy edge treatments — beveling, ogees, and bullnose — kick up the costs, too.

In the past, laminate kitchen countertops looked like poor copies of materials, such as wood and stone, because reproduction qualities were poor, and the finished product depended on a repeating pattern about 18 inches wide.
Today, advanced photographic technology creates laminates that look more like the real thing, and unique patterns can be up to 5 feet wide — wide enough to create an entire “granite” kitchen island with no repeating pattern. Also these days, laminates are made with some percentage of recycled materials, such as FSC-certified wood — wood that’s harvested sustainably.

2. Cabinetry Installation

The typical bathroom lacks storage space. In fact, creating better storage is one of the most common reasons people remodel their bathrooms. As you design your new bathroom, keep in mind three basic types of storage: cabinetry, open shelving, and linen closets.
Wall cabinets, because they are shallow, are versatile storage units for small spaces like bathrooms. They can be installed on any available wall space-the most popular spot is over the toilet. Some are freestanding units with legs that straddle the toilet tank. Wall cabinets can even be mounted low and topped with a counter. Or, they can be installed in banks. Vanity cabinets hide plumbing, provide storage, and support the countertop and sink. A vanity is often a bathroom’s visual focal point and can set the decorative tone for the whole room. Cabinetry can be a dominating design element, as in the large, luxurious bathroom above. For floor-to-ceiling banks of cabinets you may use kitchen cabinetry, but choose a base cabinet that’s specifically designed for bathrooms if you are including a sink or vanity.

6. Custom Showers

Showers can stand alone or be combined with tubs, and they come in a number of styles and materials. A tub/shower combination is more common than a standalone shower stall. It uses space efficiently, is cheap to install, and can easily be added to an alcove tub. One-piece molded fiberglass and acrylic tub-and-shower units are available, but they are often too large to fit through doors and are better suited for new construction. Shower stalls are ideal for small bathrooms or as a supplement in master or luxury bathrooms. They can be purchased prefabricated or they can be custom-built. Custom shower stalls can be designed to fit into odd spaces. The walls can be finished with ceramic tile, glass block, or a solid-surface material. Specialized options, such as seats, steam bath units, and soap dishes, can be incorporated into the design.
